STORY: The bill known as Rosa's Law passed unanimously in the Senate, changing the term "mental retardation" to "intellectual disability" on the federal level. The bipartisan effort sends the bill to the House. If passed, it will go to President Obama's desk to be signed officially into law.

STORY: Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi stood up to criticism by a self-advocacy group who claimed the healthcare reform bill didn't go far enough for persons with disabilities. The disagreement between the group and Speaker Pelosi comes down to a mandate. But the healthcare legislation does include the Community First Choice Option, which provides extra federal funding to support community living.

STORY: There's a significant uptick in the number of people who are being prescribed medication as the sole treatment for mental health issues.

STORY: The hit Fox show "Glee" has been nominated for 19 Emmys, the most nominations for a regular series. The categories include best comedy series, best actor, and best actress, among others. "Glee" is widely known as a show that features and celebrates characters with various disabilities. The Emmys will air on NBC Sunday August 29th.
